RoofHawk takes the privacy of property owners and of its subscribers seriously. This page says what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It follows the Privacy Act 2020.
Property information
RoofHawk reads aerial survey imagery published by Toitū Te Whenua LINZ under a CC BY 4.0 licence, and matches what it sees to property addresses from the LINZ address dataset. From that it records, for each roof: the address, an estimate of the roof's visible condition (for example rust, faded, sound), a score, and the date the imagery was flown.
- This is information about a building, not about a person. We don't collect owner names, phone numbers, email addresses, title records or anything else about who lives at or owns a property.
- Addresses and roof conditions are shown only to paying subscribers who have signed up for that suburb. The public website shows suburb names and roof counts only.
- If you own a property and want it removed from RoofHawk, email [email protected] with the address. We will remove it from every subscriber's list and keep it out of future reads. You don't have to give a reason.
Subscriber information
When you sign up we collect your name, business name, email address and the suburbs you choose. Payments are taken by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. We use this information to run your account, send you service emails and take payment. We don't sell it or share it with anyone except the services that run RoofHawk (hosting, payments, email).
Usage information
Our web host keeps ordinary server logs (IP address, pages requested, browser type) for security and to keep the service running. The public website sets no advertising or analytics cookies. The app stores a login token on your device so you stay signed in.
Where it is kept
RoofHawk data is held on a server in New Zealand. Encrypted backups are kept with an overseas storage provider. Payment records are held by Stripe.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see any personal information we hold about you and ask for it to be corrected. Email [email protected]. If you're not happy with how we handle it you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, privacy.org.nz.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and subscribers will be told.
